Adult Beginner Tagalog Learners, I’ve discovered the brain switch that lets you FINALLY be the boss of your TAGALOG LEARNING EXPERIENCE so you can…
TAP INTO YOUR TAGALOG MIND SPEAK SOONER WITH LESS EFFORT
STOP memorizing and START making memories with Filipino Family and loved ones.
There’s a science-backed method of learning by understanding the master key of Tagalog Sentence Construction, that allows you to enjoy learn Tagalog at a pace that fits you.
Dear Tagalog Learner,
May I call you kabayan? (kabayan means you’re a fellow Filipino, a countryman or compatriot).
I’d like to call you my kabayan, because someone who loves the language, culture and people is a Filipino in my course.
Your desire to learn Tagalog and our culture touches my heart.
I already consider you a long lost brother or sister…
I know many of you, my new kabayans have tried apps, software, tutors, forums, Facebook groups to learn Tagalog …
And I feel the struggle
And frustration, and pain as a language teacher and fellow language learner
… But there’s something new I’d like to show you
It might be what you’ve been missing…
What I’d have to share with you goes DEEPER than all those TOOLS.
I’d like to give you the Kabayan Express Pass into the Tagalog Mind.
Is that ok?
Discover an approach that will allow you to:
This is the sweet fruit of my own bitter struggles in learning other languages online and the realizations I’ve gained as a licensed professional teacher handling live classes in the Philippines.
Learning Tagalog is NOT about:
Actually, when you learn my system...
Within minutes of finishing this course, you can start testing what you’ve learned on native speakers.
You’ll see the hidden patterns of speech that just repeat over and over.
You’ll be more curious to learn more while growing your confidence knowing you’re on the right track.
You can stop saying gibberish and START really CONNECTING with Filipinos.
Is it really possible? Let me tell you about 2 people who trusted me to help…
One of my learners told me about his experience courting a Filipina … Let’s call him Rob.
Rob was walking around the mall with his Filipina date helping her find a handbag she had saved up for and was now ready to buy.
After a long day of searching, they had absolutely ZERO luck.
Tired and with aching feet, Rob wanted to know what his date felt about not finding her bag so he said to her,
"Naiinis ako"
She replied, “Relax, we had a great time today.”
What he meant to say was, “Are you mad that we didn’t find the bag?”
What he accidentally said in Tagalog was “I am mad,” not “Are you mad?”
In any other relationship, this would’ve started a bigger fight. (How to appease an angry Filipino/Filipina is a whole different lesson altogether )
Luckily, his date figured out that Rob meant something else.
Another learner who we’ll call Paul …
He’s already 50 years old and married to a Filipina wife for 10 years.
However, his wife did not want to teach him Tagalog.
“My wife doesn’t want to teach me Tagalog because she is more familiar with another local dialect and can’t speak pure Tagalog.”
He’d already joined a Tagalog subscription program before but since he didn’t practice, it didn’t sink in.
By the time he had someone to practice with, his subscription had already run out and this got him even more frustrated.
And there are hundreds of more stories…
Nothing changed for both of them (and the rest of my students).

I’ve joined Mabel’s free Tagalog class in September 2020. And was issued a free sample e-book. I purchased her book, and joined her Tagalog Hub Course Program. Ever since she shared many free materials throughout all platforms. And helped me with all my Tagalog struggles, in a timely fashion. Mabel has always maintained a high level of professionalism and a good listener, she listened to my needs and requests and was always at the ready to work with me. For that I am extremely grateful. I’m confident she will coach me towards my Tagalog goals. Each time is a step closer for my Tagalog knowledge. She comes highly recommended.

Magandang gabi po, Maraming salamat para sa lahat ng study materials you provide. It's very helpful para sa akin. My learning is moving forward again. Maraming Salamat. God bless! I would recommend Tagalog Hub. Mabel is a native Tagalog speaker and a high school teacher.
It’s NOT your fault
I feel you, I get the struggle of learning Tagalog because of myths or misunderstanding.
MISTAKE #1 Tagalog is Too Complex
- It’s more complex if you’re on the outside looking in
- There is a secret and effective pattern to learn Tagalog in a very interesting way. Yes, there is still effort, every learning comes with investing time and energy. But because you are having fun. Eventually, you will not notice that you are already learning.
MISTAKE #2 Learning by Brute Force
- AKA, learning by memorizing
- This didn’t work in school, it still doesn’t work now
- Language is a skill and it’s developed by proper instruction and usage
MISTAKE #3 Learning from Native Speakers who are not Trained
- A person may be able to speak Tagalog, but it doesn’t mean they can explain grammar rules (you can test this for yourself). Adult learners NEED these explanations to grow.
- This includes learning from family or husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend. They can speak but it doesn’t mean they have the time, patience, or skill to teach you. It causes fights and more misunderstandings.
MISTAKE #4 Finding grammatical rules explanation in everything
- Tagalog language is a completely different language. It is unique because it is flexible and some of the Tagalog is not solely based on grammatical rules but based on pronunciation convenience, Filipino traits, and characters, and other practical reasons. If you will keep on looking at grammatical rules as to why a Tagalog native speaker speaks that way. You will get frustrated learning it. The good news is that there are a systematic pattern and easy-to-understand method to learn it.
- I’m sorry to say that my experiences as a language professional and language learner have exposed me to the current industry right now. It’s sad.
There are abundant resources, yes. But the quality and science behind it is still stuck in the 80s.
There are too many promises of “learning fast” by these “teachers”
… who want to force random vocabulary words into your head?
… or keep translating phrases for you assuming you’ll just “get it”
Cracking the Language Barrier
That’s why I did my own research and experimentation guided by testing.
I’m proud to say my learners were able to crack the language barrier.
They began to impress their loved ones with their language skills.
People began to ask if they grew up in the Philippines
Their Filipino co workers felt comfortable enough to invite them to more intimate gatherings
Some began to get more attention on their CVs/resumes for being bilingual
Other started converting their bucket lists into to-do lists,
planning their island-hopping trips to the 7,000+ islands of my homeland
If you want IN on this, let me show you below.
Why Should you Listen to ME?
My name is Mabel de Leon.
I am the founder of Tagalog Hub and the author of 4 books on Tagalog and crafter 3 Online Tagalog Courses.
For almost a decade, I’ve been working offline and online in the educational field. I’ve been helping people across a range of ages and backgrounds learn Tagalog.
I design the lessons so that the learners can have a chance for their AHA moment.
Now,
Each learner has their own timing … seeing this over and over has led me to realize something BIG.
YOU MUST NOT TEACH ADULTS LIKE CHILDREN
It’s so basic, but often overlooked.
As an adult, it is demeaning, maybe even offensive to be talked down to.
You’re smart! You have life experience! You want logic in your learning! Right?
Adults have different capabilities.
We also can’t just focus on learning Tagalog 24/7; we have a life we need to live too.
I respect that.
That’s why I’ve created this. There’s an effective AND efficient way to learn TAGALOG as an adult.
Children are always held up as the standard for learning.
Adults see kids at how they pick up language easily and become jealous.
What they don’t know is adults CAN learn as well or even better than CHILDREN
Linguistics Research (the study of languages) proves it.
My Loss, Your Win
I went through what you’re going through.
I remember it well.
I was working and I wanted to expand my horizons.
I wanted to meet new friends and experience other cultures
I decided to enroll myself in a live class…
But what was about to happen changed all of that.
I was excited about the 1st session.
So after my day job, I traveled to class, went home, and slept.
Just rinse and repeat, right?
WRONG.
I realized that after my job, the 2-hour travel to the class and home drained me.
Worse, despite burning the midnight oil, I couldn’t catch up to the lessons.
I was staring blankly at the whiteboard.
The late nights made it harder to do my day job well.
My health started to suffer.
I’m sad to say that my enthusiasm quickly faded …
I even began to get frustrated to learn the language …
Learning the language became another chore …
It wasn’t long now until ….
I QUIT.
It’s true. Do you want to guess how many sessions I took before I quit?
(go on, take a guess)
.....
.....
.....
.....
(Did you make your guess?)
I quit at the 3rd session!
Bye bye money (I paid for 10 sessions). Imagine that?
Thinking back, I realized I paid money, exhausted myself.
And all I got was I gained to FRUSTRATION learning a language. Where was the love that I felt when learning was fun?
Oh man, that was a very frustrating time in my life. I don’t want THAT for you…
WHEN YOU LOVE SOMETHING, YOU KEEP COMING BACK
After moping around for a bit, and feeling guilty,
I began browsing the internet again for language learning.
I was entertained a lot, but did I learn?
No.
I kept searching because I wanted it to work.
My dreams of hearing myself confidently speaking and travelling were strong.
I continued my day job and at night,
I found ways to keep teaching myself.
Forum after forum,
Website after website,
Video after video …
I had insights on things that worked for me.
I took notes about these insights to use on my classes:
1. I learned best at my own pace (so I can still work, watch movies, see friends)
2. I learned best when I’m relaxed (at home with my feet up, no long travel )
3. I learned easily when I cared about what’s being talked about
That’s when EVERYTHING CLICKED IN MY HEAD!
My science-backed training plus my real-life experiences mixed together help me create a way to best help, my learners …
TAP INTO YOUR TAGALOG MIND, SPEAK SOONER WITH LESS EFFORT
Here are 2 ways to put this into practice …
1. LEARN using ADULT METHODS
This seems simple but is often overlooked.
Let me tell you what I was taught in teacher-training popularized by Dr. Malcolm Knowles, the father of adult learning theory. Here’s how I’ve applied it:
TAGALOG HUB WAY
Independent Learning
>>> Set your own schedule
Flexible Objective
>>> Set your own target
Experiential Learning
>>> Need activities, exposure
Learner-centered; influences pace and timing
>>> You decide pace
Topics based on real-life problems
>>> Learn most useful topics 1st and with proven and effective pattern of learning guide
TRADITIONAL WAY
Dependent Learning
>>> Wait for teacher
Fixed Objective
>>> Follow lesson plan only
Passive Learning Like Lectures
>>> Spoon-feeding
Teacher-centered, everything is tied to teacher's preference
>>> Wait for teacher
Topics based on assigned lesson
>>> Follow lesson plan
If you want to learn Tagalog. You must create the schedule for it to fit in your life.
YOUR OWN PACE!
How can you live your life AND depend on your teacher’s free time?
Adults need to USE TAGALOG with native speakers to learn best because concepts must connect with words.
They must speak, and listen and read at the same time.
You decide goals, thus you are RESPONSIBLE for your learning.
You learn best when you COMMIT and FOLLOW THROUGH.
Next, when you do decide, make sure you’re learning the right way by…
2. TAP YOUR TAGALOG MIND BY LEARNING PATTERNS NOT WORDS
CROSS TRANSLATION is a big mistake for Tagalog learners.
It’s HOW NOT to tap your Tagalog Mind.
Here’s how most do it..
First, you have a thought/idea,
Then you describe it in your language (English, French, Spanish Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese etc.
And finally, you translate it again to TAGALOG
WRONG!
To speak Tagalog, you must THINK in Tagalog by using SENTENCE PATTERNS
“You can’t learn a foreign language by rote memorization,” because according to Nobel Prize Winner Daniel Kahneman, language should be automatic and quick.
Just like driving a car or martial arts, you must allow the brain to record a PATTERN without conscious effort and minimal attention.
That’s why science recommends learning grammar patterns NOT memorizing words.
If there’s a pattern, you can recognize it. If you can recognize it, you can repeat it AND get similar results.
Here are the 2 again…
1. LEARN using ADULT METHODS
2. TAP YOUR TAGALOG MIND BY LEARNING PATTERNS NOT WORDS
After putting all these into practice here’s what happened to my learners…
You can have this too … I can show you how to have similar AHA experiences.
In fact, I’ve put it all together in a handy and concise 30-video lessons Course Program for Absolute Beginner Learners entitled:
